Congratulations to Ph.D. Candidate Afsaneh Razi on multiple invited research presentations this semester. Afsaneh gave research talks at Drexel University, James Madison University, University of Cincinnati, University of San Diego, San Diego State University, Stetson University, and Florida Polytechnic University.
Afsaneh discussed her dissertation work around the challenges to train models using ecological valid datasets and considering victims’ perspectives of risks on such sensitive topics. She believes that due to the complexity and sensitive nature of private datasets, we should preserve the confidentiality and privacy of the participants with importance. The goal of her research trajectory is to create a research program that integrates how AI could be used for the social good of people for mitigating online difficulties of vulnerable populations to empower them.
