Congratulations to STIR Lab Ph.D. students Naima Samreen, Sarvech Qadir, and their team on winning the first place prize of $4000 for their Virtual Reality class project titled “Accessibility Quest” in a competition held by Vanderbilt University. Their project aimed to guide urban planners in devising city designs that foster inclusivity by giving a wheelchair experience in the virtual world. It comprised two phases: building mode and testing mode. In the building mode, players could teleport along a specified path in a city to identify and fix accessibility issues. In the testing mode, players were in a wheelchair and tested whether the specified path was accessible.
