Congratulations to Dr. Leena Alghamdi!
We are thrilled to share that Leena Alghamdi, a Computer Engineering PhD student in the STIR Lab and also at the University of Central Florida, has successfully defended her dissertation, “Improving smart home access control mechanisms to account for community-based sharing beyond the home.” Her research focuses on enhancing smart home privacy and security by incorporating extended family members and trusted community members into the oversight process. Throughout her doctoral studies, she developed and evaluated novel user-centered approaches—such as mobile apps for device sharing and community-based privacy/security management—to address real-world smart home challenges. We wish Leena the best as she embarks on her journey as an Assistant Professor at Albaha University in Albaha, Saudi Arabia, where we know she will continue making groundbreaking contributions to the field of HCI and security!
