Dr. Pamela Wisniewski is serving on the planning committee for an upcoming National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) workshop examining how digital technologies interact with the developing brain.
The workshop, “Digital Technologies and the Developing Brain: Insights from Neuroscience,” will bring together experts across neuroscience, technology, youth development, and mental health to examine what current evidence tells us—and where important questions remain.
Discussions will explore how technologies such as social media, gaming, passive media, and artificial intelligence may relate to brain development, while addressing methodological limitations, developmental differences, and the broader social and environmental contexts that shape young people’s experiences with technology.
The workshop will take place October 26, 2026, from 9:00 AM–5:30 PM EDT, with both virtual and in-person participation available. It is free and open to the public.
